1997 Saturn SC1 Alternator

What is a clip?Have you checked if you have battery voltage to the stud on the back of the alternator?That's where the wire goes from the starter to the back of the alternator.If there is no battery voltage you have a bad fuseable link.That's the most likely cause i can think of.If you do have battery voltage there let me know and i will give your further instruction's.

Thanks for answering so fast!! :) YES we have battery voltage to the stud on back of alternator. The other wires that clip into the alternator, what does it do, where does it go and the clip itself go bad?

One wire to the connector goes to the battery light the other supplies power to the alternator.With the key the run position and the engine off you should have power to the solid brown wire to the alternator connector.Let me know what you find.

My hubby discovered what I called a chip was bad. U called it a connector. After a trip on foot for 4 miles we found out that part was obsolete, so we went to the local junkyard and found it for $10. Poof!! It was fixed!! All is well in our Saturn world. Next I put it up for sale on craigslist. Want a chevy truck
