I have a 2000 Saturn SL1 (automatic transmission). I just had to have the transmission filter replaced because the seal was gone on it. When it was in the process of breaking down, I had nothing beyond first gear and there was a loud whining noise.
Now that it's been fixed (or so the dealer tells me), I can still hear a whine when the car is in reverse and, when I switch to reverse from drive, the gear change is very hard. It's been doing that for a while...is this something I need to be concerned about? The mechanic at the dealer tells me they have to take the transmission apart to see if it's a nut that is loose or if the valves need to be repaired. I think it might be a simple case of resetting the codes, but they are just chomping at the bit to get their hands on my money and they already got enough of it. Any insight you can give is appreciated.
