I have a 2000 Saturn LS2 with 116000 miles. Going down the road at 55 mph the car just lost power and quit. Had a new fuel pump and fuel filter installed. Was told it was okay. Picked it up, at the end of the road it did it again. Was then told it was the catalytic converter - the converter is off and we let it run, it still did it. What could it possibly be - - we are at our wits end and I need my car working ASAP.

I have had this same issue with a '99 Grand Am w/the 2.4 ecotec. I'm not 100% sure but it could be the ignition control module. I've been told that if this is starting to go/dieing, then the car will quit. My car has died on me on occasion, but luckily I haven't been on the highway.....yet!
