i have a 1997 sc1 sohc saturn. A couple of weeks ago it started having power loss to the engine when i depress the accelerator. i have replaced the plugs and wires and still the same. Sometimes around 30 and 40 and esp. 50mph you almost have to floor it to get it to go. i would appreciate any suggestions you may have. It has 172,000 miles on it and its an automatic , no tail smoke, and the idle sputters. i have had the air filter changed regularly but not the fuel filter. oh and the engine light is not on.

I was told that the bearings were going bad in it. i got rid of it. It was a good car for two years though :(

How many miles?
Standard or automatic?
Does it idle smoothly?
Have you done any other maintenance? Air filter and fuel filter are the first 2 things that should be checked.
Any smoke from the tail pipe?

Good luck and let us know. :)
