Hey everyone,

My girlfriend's saturn sc1 keeps dieing occassionally. Today, I started it up myself and it started up fine. It's got around 150,000 miles. The other day it stalled on her after maybe 20 minutes of driving. She said she tried to restart it... it started for a second or so and then sputtered and quit. Could it possibly need a new fuel filter?? Any other ideas? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Yeah, it starts up right now and sounds fine.... I haven't tried driving it anywhere yet besides around the driveway. I'm gonna replace the plugs and wires today. I can't find any maintenance records for it.

Thanks again!

Is there anywhere online I can find directions on how to change a fuel filter for this car? I've never changed a fuel filter before... I'm new at this.

The last time I bought a fuel filter from the dealer it had very precise insturction with pictures included.

Use a little penetrating oil on the connections and mounting screws ahead of time.

Good luck and let us know how it goes. :)

Use stock NGK plugs or regular AC delcoes. No platinum plugs. Get the PCV valve from the dealer. With that sort of mileage you might consider cleaning the throttle body and EGR valve also.

Good luck.

Well I got everything on now and it sounds like it's running well. But, while I was removing the air box, a hose broke. It's only about 3 inches or so long... I've taped it for now. It's connected to the air box and manifold. I can't find the part number for it. If you're looking at the engine from the front of the car it's the hose on the right side... not the left. Do you know the part number for this?? thanks again

No parts number but the dealer should be able to help. Take the old one with you to be certain.

Hey peppermrj,

I forgot to bring the hose I needed to the dealer but ended up getting a pcv valve and hose from them. It wasn't the right hose. Oh well on the pcv valve though.... it was due for replacement. Anyways, the hose I need is directly beside the pcv valve on my engine to the right. There's a hose coming from the pcv valve on the left side and then there's another hose a few inches to the right of the pcv valve.... both coming from the manifold. Do you know what this other hose is? Is it some type of emissions thing or what? Thanks a lot again,

Josh
