2004 Saturn Ion problems

I have a 2004 Saturn Ion Level 2 with a 2.2L,33,000 miles, and an automatic transmission. My car surges into second gear almost every time, but no other gears, and only while up-shifting. It also idles abnormally high when shifting the vehicle back into park after driving. It normally is at around 700-800 RPMs, but now it's at around 1,500 RPMs. If I try to shift it back into drive while idling this high it slams into gear. Have any ideas, or places where i could at least start looking?
