We just bought our Saturn about a month ago from a private owner. It has about 74000 on it. A few weeks ago I started noticing a strong gasoline odor. I looked around to see if there were any puddles under the car and didn't see anything. The smell kept coming back every now and then so I finally got under the car and looked around and I found that gasoline had leaked out and was covering the bottom of the fuel tank. I had the car towed to the dealer and they told me that it was the fuel pump and it would cost about $880 to repair. I've looked around and saw that I could buy a fuel pump for about $300. I've had some limited DIY experience with my cars. How difficult would it be to do it myself, or what are the chances that I would be able to find someone who could do the repair for less?
I also noticed that someone else with the same car/mileage had the same problem. Is there a recall or anything that I should know about?
