Air Conditioning problem

First of all I really don't know much about this stuff...but here goes...the air conditioner blows and blows pretty good...but no cold air. My husband put freon in it and still nothing. For some reason I'm thinking that if it were the compressor that it would'nt blow at all or only blow softly. But that's what I think and I'm trying to find out before my husband so I can feel smart, lol. Thanks
