I have oil leaking into the coolant res. the car runs good some times idles high what is the problem? head gasket I was told and est cost 1200. dollars is this average cost? what els can I do?

i had the same problem with my car. i had oil in my cooling system and it ran fine, except mine turned out to be a cracked head, not a gasket.
