1995 Other Saturn Models Heater core

My heater core recently went out on my car and I know that it is located in the dash, but I don't know where. How do I find it without ripping the whole car apart? Is this a job that I should take in and get done or is it realtively easy and something that can be done easily at home? Is there any way that you can give me a diagram of where it is located?

It is for a 1995 SL1

This is a moderately difficult project for the average DIY'er. The heater core is not really located "in the dash" but rather below it which makes it somewhat complicated to get to.

From the front seat passenger side, you will find an access panel held in place by velcro (or maybe some retaining clips as well). If you remove this panel, you will see a fuse box as well as some relays etc. Moving toward the engine, you will see the heater box. Inside this box is where the heater core is located.

As you can see, this is really tucked in there. Also, oftentimes, heater core problems are associated with corrosion - which complicates the removal process.

This job IS NOT like changing oil or something. It is a fairly involved project but certainly not outside the realm of what is doable. If you have the tools, A REPUTABLE REPAIR MANUAL and the time ( and you can control your frustration) it is very manageable. Good luck!
