I had a similar problem. Was not electrical. It was the nut that mounts the wiper transmission arms to the motor, it had come loose. Also, the transmission arms were seized with rust which is why the nut came loose to begin with. I went to the salvage yard and got the transmission system for $75.00 instead of the $400.00 Saturn was asking. It took some doing but, with the help of the Haynes manual managed to replace it myself ( i am not mechanically inclined)

If it is not the wiper motor, which i went through too (sounds like it is not)

It involves removing exterior the wiper cowling from below the windshield (got fiddle with the hood up and down when pulling this off.)

On the right hand side there will be a whole that Leeds under the dash area, this is where the wiper motor is. You will see the nut and wiper arm transmission, careful that the swing arm is in the 9:00 position before tightening the nut or your wipers will not cycle properly.

Are there any known common failures that would stop the front wipers from working?
Is there a fuse? If so where might I find one. This is my daughters car and she can not afford a major expense.

Suggestions?

it could be a fuse, the fuse will be with the fuse box. usually under the drivers side dash? not quite sure. if its not a fuse then the motor for the wipers went. it does not cost too much if you get it from a junk yard. this should be a easy/cheap fix. either way.

Problem turned out to be the the nut on the drive motor came off and the linkage popped off. Just had to reattach it.

Hello, was driving (in the rain) today and my wipers stopped working. the driver's side wiper stopped in the middle of the windshield, and the passenger went do to the off position. I can move the driver's side wiper with just my hand across the windshield, but the passenger will not move.

Any ideas?
