IYH I'm purchasing a 2001 Saturn L-Series with 53,000 miles. The biggest complaint on carcomplaints.com is the timing chain breaking and causing expensive damage to the engine.
1) Is it wise to have the timing chain changed immediately upon receiving the car, or should i wait for some sound or indication that trouble is coming.
2) Is there any way to tell by looking at the engine - if the timing chain has already been replaced?
