My son has a Saturn that he added transmission fluid to, because it was not shifting, (I could not find a dip stick to check), and I noticed he spilled fluid all over, about 2 hours later after he drove the car around the cornor, he can get the ignition key to turn. I pulled the steering column covers and there looks like there is solenoid under the ignition cylinder. What is this and what drives it? Is it possible ther is fuse for this?
Thanks in advance

Thanks for responding, I pulled that solenoid off and figured out thaat it had to be like you said. The key is in the off position, just will not turn, never gave any hard to turn indications, just will not turn. I can not see how the steering wheel lock works, without pulling wheel, and I geuss that would be how you would change the ignition/cylinder assy.

You don't have to remove the steering wheel to replace the ignition cylinder.Remove the ignition bezel then tap lightly on the cylinder where you put the key in then see if the cylinder turn's if it does let me know and i will give you further instruction.

Your going to have to change the ignition cylinder before it lock's up again if it stick's again and you can't free it up it's going to be a lot harder and more expensive to fix.Let me know when you get the new cylinder and i will give you further instruction's.
