I own a 2007 Saturn Ion, lately it has been registering missfires, especially when it is low on fuel. I usually put Arco gas in it, but purchased one tank of 76 gas in while on vacation back in mid October. Shortly thereafter, the engine light came on and stayed on and it registered 3 missfires on my Actron code reader. I have already used two cans of a product to clean my gas tank, and the problem seemed to get a little better, but then I got a warning light on the far right of my dashboard, that looked like an engine symbol with an arrow pointing down. HELP. PLEASE. 2 more years of payments on a car that is basically now a planter!!!

What was the OBD2 codes for???

Engine misfiring can be caused by worn or fouled spark plugs, a weak spark (weak coil, bad spark plug wire), loss of compression, vacuum leaks, anything that causes an unusually lean fuel mixture (lean misfire), an EGR valve that is stuck open, dirty fuel injectors, low fuel pressure, or even bad fuel.

The two codes on the Actron meter are:

P0303 (Misfire Cy. 3)

P2135 Air Fuel Ratio/Throttle Posistion Sensor

Have replaced all four spark plugs

I had that same problem after spending unecessary money and still had the same problem, I took the car to the dealer and they found out it was the cylinder head was crack on #3, and had to be replace. Thank God it was still under the power train warranty or I would have been out of close to $4000.00 dollars.

Just to add to this one which engine do you have the 2.2L or the 2.4L?I also can't find that code for neither engine so please check the code and see what code it actually is.I would check the plugs especially number 3 like rastmaz said for being fouled.
