2004 Saturn Ion Car Vibrations

I recently changed all my tires, brand new, but did not have an alignment done, as it was not mentioned to me. This was in early November. Since then I've driven down to DC and back up to Buffalo for thanksgiving, and had no issues with the car.

Today, December 23 I noticed that my car had mild to bad vibrations on the road, especially when I hit the 45mph mark. It doesn't have these vibrations below that speed.

A friend of mine said it could be alignment and tire balancing.

The first thing to check would be the tire inflations. A low tire can cause vibrations. If all tires are checked okay with proper inflation, I would suggest having alignment shop check to ensure they are balanced correctly. If one of the tires balance strip has fallen off, it will cause tremendous vibrations which are usually noticeable at higher speeds. Also, having the front and rear end suspensioned aligned is a good idea. The suspension components wear over time, causing them to move slightly out of their original positions.
