1995 Saab 9000 performance

My Saab all of a sudden started to sputter when ever I tried to increase speed. I called an auto shop he said bring it in & it drove just fine on the way over there but when he tried it out it started to sputter again. When he thought he had it fixed it would do it again. Can not figure it out.
