Engine problem

I was wondering if anyone knows how loud the engines are in these cars. I know this is an odd question but I just got rid of my Saab 9000 and bought a Saab 900 and it seems a lot louder than my other car despite being 8 years newer, it runs great and i'm not having any problems, I was just wondering if this was normal or maybe a warning sign that something may fail on it down the road. Thanks!
Its a 2.3 non-turbo engine, 4 cylinder
