Engine Mechanical problem
1999 Saab 9-5 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 173k miles

The gearbox light comes on intermittently. Does this mean I need a new engine? Is the car driveable until it is fixed?

u need to get transmission codes read ,it may be something simple at this stage ,vehicle can loose mobility at anytime even while on highways at high speed driving,good luck.
