My drive belt came off and of course lost steering, overheated and alligator light came on. My question is what do I have to do to get to the drive belt, other than pulling entire engine out, and what would cause the belt to come off in the first place!

firstly set engine on a floor jack ,note be carefull jacking engine under oil pan ,now remove engine mount bracket 4 16mm bolts & 1 18mm nut to pull ,after that with belt off check all moving pulleys if they all spin freely & with ease ,if ok u now need to set tensioner to install belt position using a pin & nail to lock tensioner ,use a 1/2" drive type socket extension to pry tensioner forward to set pin in place ,now install belt ,& do all in reverse from above, good luck .
