2005 Saab 9-3 repair Question Fan will not turn on

To better assist you if you need to get back with me please specify if your vehicle is a 9-3 Arc or Aero or Linear.

Next, you can check fuse 23.

Also I would think it may be your blower fan. I can show you how to get to it and you can test it. Would you like to try that?

Or, since it is under warranty….I would have them check it and ensure it is working….I know giving up the car is a pain…..but sometimes working on it and troubleshooting is worse.

If you do provide me the correct model, I can see if you have any recalls so when you talk to them they can check those out if they apply.

Its the Aero - Thanks for the help, I was also told by a friend who is a mechanic that I should remove the cabin filter and clear out any debris that has got through it. He said that that the car's computer will automatically shut the fan off if it senses any blockage in this area. I am going to try this tomorrow morning - it seems very simple and after checking a few other forums it seems that this has fixed the problem for other people. Any thoughts on this? Thanks again.

Hello - Thanks for the info back.......I would definitely replace the cabin filter. I am not totally sure what yours looks like, but the ones I have changed are much like your air filter in your house. So you will probably be shocked at what it looks like and the amount of dirt/dust etc that it has stopped. A great idea I think putting them in the cars. It is amazing. So I would truly consider just replacing it not just cleaning it. I show it's about $25 at the dealer so probably a little less at the parts store. I did a little looking around on the computer/fan etc. You mechanic may be correct on the automatic shut down....he may have seen that in a different area than I was looking in. I did see that if there is a problem then the computer will throw a code. Me, since it is under warranty I would definitely let the dealer figure out/fix this. BUT, make sure you ask what they did, what was wrong, make sure it shows on your receipt etc in case it comes up again. Please let us know what you find. It sounds like you have a handle on changing the cabin filter. If you do need directions let me know and I will send them to you. Looks like you may have some recalls on your vehicle. The dealer may fix these for free. Please contact the dealer service department, give them the VIN number of your car and have them check on these to see if they apply to you.
