So I have a 16 valve Zetec engine with approximately 127,000 miles on it. The problem I am having with it which I hope is something simple, is when I give it gas it goes but if I give it too much gas it feels like it is running out of gas, but there are no leaks or any of that. my oil does smell like gas but the car runs and does not stall or turn off on me.

This is applicable even if your check engine light is not on.

Most scanners are inexpensive to purchase, you can purchase one online auto parts stores.
