runs for a minute then shuts off

I can start the car as soon as i put it in drive it shuts off if you let it run for a few the check engin light comes on then shuts off. And then u start to smell gas like gas is spitting back out.

scan for codes and check fuel pressure with a gauge auto parts rent it.

really? 1988 dodges really don't have codes i tryed that

do step 2 in pic to get codes then go to our site and look under OBD1 for codes and what they mean. also check fuel pressure with a gauge which should be 14.5 psi
