If my car is setting it does not run hot but if I drive it about ten miles it starts to overheat. I by passed the heater core and it still ran hot so I cut the heat on and it stopped. what could it be?

Hello,
This could be a problem with your thermostat. I have included a couple of links down below.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/replace-thermostat

Please go through them. If after replacing the thermostat your vehicle is still overheating then please go to these links down below.

Either way please get back to us with what you find out.

Thanks,

So I ended up trying everything I could think of. Thermostat, by passed the heater core, block test, (I think that's what it's called.) Changed the hoes to everything I thought would leak, changed cap, finally I went to parts store and got a flush out kit. Done that to flush cooling system no problem with overheating. Thank goodness. Thanks for your comments and helping.
