Run Flat Tires

There is no type of special rim design or modifications to mount a Run Flat tire. It is the design of the tire itself. If you say the Run Flats are not there anymore than the previous owner must have installed the Cooper brand tires. Most tires when being driven on flat or excessively low will get ruined by the rubbing of the rim edges near the bead and will shave off the rubber while being driven and ruin the sidewall. Most tire shops when they remove the tire and notice this will not repair the tire. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.

If this vehicle is 15 years old it has had many tire replacements so if you just bought it and it has Coopers on it now then yes, the previous owner went with a cheaper tire.

When tires wear out you want to change the in pairs or all 4 at the same time just to keep the tread wear even.

However, a run flat tire technology is contained in the tire so if you have 4 run flat tires on it and you want to only replace one tire then you can install any tire you want. Again, I would not replace just one unless the tread depth is pretty close to being new. Let me know if you have other questions. Thanks
