Tachometer stopped working while driving

Unfortunately there are a lot of things that could have caused this. The fact that it was only the tachometer that went to zero tells me there could be an issue with the input shaft speed sensor because that is what tells the Transmission control module what the RPM of the engine is and obviously the tachometer is displaying this input.

However, when you add the fact that the vehicle would not start to this, the input sensor would not prevent the vehicle from starting. This part of it is what makes this more complicated.

Due to there not being one or even a few items that could cause this, I would suggest getting the vehicle scan for any diagnostic trouble codes and let me know what they are. If the tach went to zero and then would not start, I am sure there are some stored DTCs in the computer and those will tell the story about what happened.

If you don't have the ability to pull these out yourself, you can go to most parts stores as they offer free services just to get the DTCs. They may recommend what they think but if you want to run those by me first, just reply to this post with what you find and I will be happy to dig further.

I am hoping we will get a response with what solved their issue however, even if we do your vehicle is not very similar to their vehicle so I am not sure their solution will solve your issue.

More then likely you have a vehicle speed sensor issue but let's start with the basics. What engine do you have and when your speedometer stops working, does it start again on its own or when you turn the vehicle off and then back on?

I have the EXACT same problem with my 2012 Veloster 1.6 L 4-cylinder. Error code P0335. Faulty crankshaft position sensor “A” circuit.Di you have any follow up? Is this an easy fix?

Unfortunately we do not have a response. However, if you have that code it is normally one of 3 things. Either the sensor (most likely) the wiring, or the control module.
