Rough idle

Through scanner intake air temperature was showing 78 degrees. Ambient temperature 55 degrees. Is this a problem and if so where is sensor located? 3.0si

Hello,

I don't think that would effect your idle that much. I have included the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor location in the diagrams down below as well as a troubleshooting guide from the manufacturer for your vehicles rough idle. Please go through this guide and get to us with you find out.

Common faults on these for rough idle is the PCV system (positive crankcase ventilation system). Remove your oil cap and see if there is a strong suction. If there is, you will have to replace the valve cover (plastic). Or if it’s a metal valve cover you will have to remove the intake and replace the CCV valve assembly, same thing different name.

After replacing a coil on cylinder number two (misfire) and left and right DISA valves (one broken flap and one with damaged gasket and frozen in open position) the problem has been corrected. Decided to replace all three coils on 1, 2 and 3 cylinders to rule a random misfire on bank 1.Ten mile test drive and idle was smooth afterwards with no CEL.
