Are you getting power to the bulb sockets? Make sure you check your neutral safety switch that is located on the side of the transmission.

Would it be a problem if theres no wires on the park/neutral switch which is on the steering column?

No the shifter on the steering column moves the safety neutral switch on the trans. That's where the electrical parts for reverse are located not the steering column

If you had power to the bulbs and you replaced the bulbs already you would have to check if you getting ground to it

Yes the test light is best use for that since we are just checking for power and ground make sure you find a good ground to check the the sockets.
