Reverse gear loud screeching noise and no movement

When I go into reverse, I get a loud screeching noise and no movement. It doesn’t do this all the time, but is more common than not. It also shifts in all other gears with no problem. Can I fix this myself?

The issue could be either a band or a clutch drum inside the transmission.

Yes, If you can remove it and disassemble it, you could do it yourself. It is a major repair.
