engine vibration? mount replacement?

When you say the rear mount, do you mean the one pictured below?

Are you able to get a picture of the one you are looking for because there are transmission mounts that are also called the rear mounts. So getting a picture of the one you are looking for will be the best way to ensure we get you the correct info.

However, Toyota did not supply procedures just for the mounts so they are part of other processes but I am sure we can get you the info that you are looking for.

When going in reverse the car gives a jerk.

Common issue for this issue is a worn motor mount and the engine moves and makes this noise.Have someone check the transmission mounts to be sure they are not broken or worn.There is one on the top of the transmission and one on the bottom.

When I drive my car it makes this light clunking noise. there are no smells coming from the car and the engine is not running hot. I went to a friend who knows a little about cars. He said that my motor mounts need to be replaced or repaired. I wont have the money for another week or two. What can I do in the mean time? I still need to go to work. Please Help!!!!

If it's your motor mounts you'll only hear the clunk when you step on the gas. If you hear it all the time it's something else. If you also hear it while the the car is not moving it's probably engine related.

I have a 1995 Toyota corolla and I am attempting to remove the front passenger side motor mount. I have gotten to the mount, removing the Cruise control, however had the wrong mount and had to reassemble. My question is about the two lower bolts nearest the engine. How can I get to those without tinkering with the AC? Is there some kind of tool that will get to these? They seem to be 13mm bolts, with hardly any clearing to get to the bolt with a ratchet. Any one have experience with this?

possibly you can move ac unit slightly with jack or 2x4 since engine is slightly flexible on it's mounts? on some cars it will move an inch or more.

My daughter run over a rock on the highway in the dark. It bent the motor mount(s) and there is a noticeable vibration when idling at a stop light. Not so bad when in park or neutral with the engine running. Mechanic said motor mount(s) were bent. How do I change the rear mount? I hear you have to drop the subframe, whatever that is.

Yes you must drop the subframe. It is held in place with about 6-8 bolts, and you must disconnect the lower ball joints ( just remove the 3 bolts that hold the BJ to the control arm), and the center and front motor mount bolts.
This is a heavy item, so use a floor jack. The rear mount is the hardest one to remove as compared to the rest.

Hi how do i replace the front engine mountings

There is a cover under the engine bay this is removed first, the front engine mount bolts to the centre frame running for and aft. there should be a plastic cover over the bolt holes remove this and with a jack and a block of wood supporting the sump undo these 2 bolts, lift engine just a little and undo mount bolts on block and remove mount.

i have a 95 toyota corolla with a 1.6 and 96,000 miles. it has a very bad vibration when accelerating or decelerating (not braking) in the front of the car. there is no vibration in the steering wheel, it stays smooth. it gets real bad when im turning right and goes away when im turning left. also it goes away if i step on the clutch or coast in nuetral (even when turning). i replaced a broken trans mount and one bad motor mount. i dont know what else could cause this.

Hi there,

As you have change the mounts , there may be a bit of miss alignment some where, as a first easy thing to do, try backing off all the engine mount bolts, just have them finger tight, go for a quiet drive up and down the street use the brakes harder than normal (not to lock up a wheel) and this may settle the engine and trans into a normal position taking any tension out of the mounts. Do up all mounts and test drive.
