For various reasons I wish to replace the power steering system on this Acura with an earlier model Honda
MANUAL rack and pinion unit. I know that Acura never made a manual unit specifically for this car. That was
either a mistake, or done intentionally to make the Acura more luxurious and more expensive.
Since Honda did not make a manual steering units for this car, it is not possible to order a manual replacement.
However, I have been reading on online forums that people are installing manual steering units on this same model of Acura, but I don't know exactly what they used for a replacement. It makes sense to me that if the manual unit bolts to the frame of the CL and the steering column will connect to the pinion, then the tie rods should fit or could be made to fit. I need to know which parts I need. Steering wheel is on LEFT side of car.
Is it possible that you might have the opportunity to compare a manual unit to a power unit and see if they are
similar enough to be made to function properly? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
