Replacing Blend Door Actuator

My truck has the dual zone climate control and I have heat coming out of only the passenger side vents. So, I know that I get to replace the worst actuator under the plenum and on top of the floor vents. I don't want to cut up my truck like many of the YouTube videos suggest is the easy way to do the job. I am more than comfortable pulling my dash out and while I do one, I may as well do the rest of the actuators.

My question is, once I get the dash out, how do I actually replace the blend actuator? It is still sat on top of the floor vents so do I have to pull the whole plenum off the firewall, or do I get better access to remove all the floor vents with the dash out?

Hi,

I'm not sure who designed these, but you do have to remove the entire dash. Also, you do need to remove the heater core/evaporator core box which requires draining the engine coolant and evacuating the A/C system. It can be a bit of a job, but like you, I would rather do it this way and not cut things.

It sounds like you are comfortable with the removal of the dash, so I will start with the removal of the heater core and the evaporator core. If, however, you need info on the dash, let me know.

If you look below, I attached the directions for removing the cores. After the first set of directions, I included the removal and replacement of the actuator.
