Replacement battery cable assembly?

I have the vehicle listed above Lx. A local repair shop damaged my battery cable assembly at the starter connection by incorrectly probing the wires. Because of the age of the car, I am unable to find a replacement. I’ve even tried wrecking yards. The part I need is 372203E010(the cable that goes to the starter). There is another one that is identical under 372203E000 but carries a different battery voltage than mine, so it won’t work. I can’t afford another car as I am on Social Security. Also, I love my Kia and don’t want to give it up. It’s been an absolute trooper from day one. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I’ve contacted them and was told none are available. They order from Kia and have been discontinued.

Hi,

The one that you mentioned being exactly the same but carrying a different voltage, what voltage is it designed for? These vehicles all had a 12v system.

My apologies. I miss quoted what the Kia dealer said. This was his explanation.

He says that these two are different. They are the physically the same but the wire rating for the battery size is different so they appear to be the same, but they are technically different.

Hi,

Is it possible that the one you can get is designed to process more power? In other words, it is a heavier duty wiring? If that is the case, it would be fine to use. However, you don't want to go to a smaller gauge wire that could overheat.

This is what I got from the Kia dealer this morning.

They are physically the same part physically the same wire size but the fusible links which are incorporated into them are not the same. No, you cannot use one to the other. It would ruin the computer in the car.

Hi,

It would only hurt the computer if there was a short and the fusible link was too heavy gauge to fail. However, I don't know the specifics. If they are telling you that, I'm not sure what to say.

The only other thing is to check salvage yards. There are websites that will scan all salvage yards in the US. It's a thought.

Do you know the salvage search site? I’ve tried the ones I know with no luck. I called a few here in Oregon and they said they usually cut those cables.

Also, if possible, send me the VIN number of the vehicle. I am trying to compare the two different part numbers you included, and they are both indicating the same type vehicle and engine size. Also, if you could let me know what was damaged on the original cable. If it was a fusible link, that should be able to be replaced/repaired.

Technically it’s a 2002 but it’s listed in the US as an 03

The cable hasn’t been removed yet so I’m not sure of total damages. That probably won’t happen until Monday when I have some help.
