Replaced the serpentine belt tensioner?

Friends' vehicle. She had her tensioner replaced. However, the plastic cover that the tensioner bolts to is broken. Is it possible to still bolt tensioner on without replacing the plastic cover that's behind it?

Hi,

If I am looking at it correctly, that is needed to maintain the pulley's correct position.

Is that where the mounting bolt goes through the tensioner?

Also discovered that the bottom left bolt (shown in pic) has no threads and is snapped off at the end. It can be pulled out with no effort or tools?

Hi,

The bolt in the pic is likely what caused the other component to break. You said there are no threads on the bolt. Is that correct?

Let me know. Also, upload a pic of the bolt so I can see it. If the bolt failed, I need to try and determine if it is likely the threads on the opposite side would be okay.

If possible, can you use a mirror to check if the threads are damaged where the bolt goes?
