Will not start after replacing the crankshaft position sensor

I replaced the crankshaft position sensor because I got a code saying it was bad and had trouble starting a few times but after I replaced the sensor it will not start at all. I did disconnect the negative battery terminal before I replace the sensor. would that have caused a problem?

What was the code that was set? It is rare that a code identifies a bad part, it identifies a failed system.

When you crank the engine, does the tachometer move up a little and show RPM? That will tell me if the sensor is sending a signal to the ECM.

P0335 was the code. I took out the new sensor and put back in the old one and now it will crank, but is still giving the same code.

Okay, if it runs with the old sensor, then you have a bad new sensor.

I would get an OEM sensor as it may not be up to quality at all. Very common.
