Repair white metal antique carburetor

Is this really off a 1961 Vega? Vega was the 1970's for GM.

Is there a carburetor number on it somewhere?

Did you try drilling and using an easy out to get the broken piece out?

Roy, hi it's not out of Vega, it's out of a 1930 car. Nothing is broken.

This looks like a 3/8 size bolt? Is that correct?

If it is, does the bolt go in at all? Are there any threads left in the housing?

Do you have a clear shot of installing a bolt from the bottom of the mount on the intake?

Roy, hi it's not out of Vega, it's out of a 1930 car. Nothing is broken, inside of the carburetor, what you see is the inside of the carburetor. It's a Tillotson carburetor, no longer makes parts. My question is a general question, not car Specific. There are no experts in this category.

The bolt is a 1/4 - 20. There are no threads left in the housing, the hole the threaded bolt goes into is larger than 1/4 -20. The carburetor is an updraft carburetor, the two threaded bolts go up through the bottom of the intake flange, two nuts hold the carburetor to the flange.

Wow, I wish I had a better resolution for this.

It looks like you will need a new body for it to accept the mounting stud.

I know that is easy to say but I do not see anything else other than a heli coil. The problem with that is the threads and the body staying in place. You would need to drill out the hole to 5/16 and then thread it to accept the 1/4 threads. Do you think the body has enough room to drill it out?

Thank you, I have been trying to replace this carburetor, new body, parts, even looked into s Zenith carburetor. Heli coil did not work. I guess I'm back to the drawing board. there must be an adhesive that will work.

JB Weld, PC7 and the most common. They set under heat. If you use it, you need to let it cure in a heated environment for at least 3 or 4 hours.

RTV gray is the strongest bonding agent.

Roy, hi. tried JB Weld, held to the thread but not to the carburetor, after 48 hours still did not hold. I just contacted PC7, awaiting a response.
