Hi.
I have a 2005 Renault Megane sedan 1.6L manual which has done a mileage of 160 000 kilometres. When the car starts (from a cold start or when the car's airconditioning syatem is switched on), the engine makes a loud noise like that of a diesel-powered car (even though my car is petrol-driven) and then stalls leaving a "rich" odour of exhaust fumes. When starting it again a second time, the noise does not persist and the car drives smoothly without any problems.
Please tell me what this is and how to repair it.
Gavin
