Electrical problem

I removed the stearing column covers to refit them properly., They have been not sitting right for some time. Upon unscreewing and seperating the two halves of the cover. A circular piece of plastic which had copper wire around it fell out and was dangling by one half of its copper winding.The other end had snapped. I re attached the broken wire and re-fitterd it Around the ignition switch. Which was where it seemed to have come off from. It now will not start. Before this happened it was running perfectly OK. There is a light on the dash board which stays on normally to indicated the imobiliser is switched off what the car ihas been started. This now keeps flashing when I try and start the car. Does anyone have a soloution for me.
