1999 Renault Espace hard cold start

1999 Renault Espace 4 cyl

i have a renault espace ,when left in sun or warmth starts but need to catch revs when left cold ,very hard to fire up,will turn ,but need to warm up for a couple of mins,fitted new tdc sensor,and coolant temp sensor but still the same ,does get a smell of petrol when on a long run ,can anyone help please. ben
