I am new here, the names James, Im from the uk and currently own a 2000 renault clio sport 172 2.0l.
Back in Febuary I had an unfortunate accident where i skidded on some black ice and hit a wall, this smashed up the front end a bit, and made the fuel cut out activate, i restarted the car and had the front end repaired, the car ran fine for a few weeks until i was pushing the car hard for a while down a back road and all of a sudden it lost a lot of power, sounded terrible and felt like it was going to shake itself to pieces, anyway i slowed down and the fault went away, again when i started going fast the problem reoccured, and continued to get worse until now it is constantly running badly.
the symptoms are, a big loss of power and responsiveness, shakes violently at anything below 2000rpm under load in the higher gears, big reduction in fuel economy (now at around 18mpg whereas before it would get 35mpg)
sounds like it is misfiring constantly.
the only modifications to the engine are an air filter and an exhaust system.
the condition improves slightly when the car is cold until it starts to get warm, so far i have replaced: spark plugs, leads and ignition coil.
have run 3 lots of injector cleaner through the car, replaced a fuel filter and cleaned all the sensors and re sealed the exhaust system ( i have checked this and it is not blocked in anyway).
I am running out of ideas and would really appreciate any advice or help you guys can give.
