Engine Mechanical problem

Hello, a couple of weeks ago I had a problem with my Clio:at a stoplight I have pushed the brake pedal,then the clutch and put the gearbox in neutral;then when I tried to go I've noticed the engine has stopped(and I was surprised because I haven't felt when it stopped,you know that little shake when you stall the engine,I haven't felt that).I have turned the ignition to the stop position and then I started the engine and ite started without an problems.After that the car went fine for a few days but know when I'm driving,if the gearbox is in neutral the engine stops.What could cause that problem?
