1999 Renault Clio loseing power

While driving the car lost power and was running very badly after 5 mins or so it went back to normal and was fine could it be the air temp sensor

Did the check engine light come on !! I would be checking the wiring connections to the coils before replacing any part's .. this is a common fault on the clio ..
