I was hooking up trailer hitch lights and disconnected the negative cable several days ago and now my remote will not unlock the doors and the security systems will not sound. I checked the fuses.

Hello Ken:
Car runs fine and starts fine, however I noticed that neither three of my remotes will lock or unlock the doors and lites will not flash when leaving the vehicle and locking it. I took out the fuses one by one and they look fine.

I have seen where when the battery is connected it can cause a voltage surge which knocks out the TIPM which controls the security system. Please check fuse # M22 and M23. Here is a guide to help you test the fuse and the location of the fuse below. I have also included the security wiring diagrams. If the TIPM is bad you will need to have it programmed which will cost about $130.00 at a shop that can do initiations. Plus the cost of the unit and installation.

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

Cheers, Ken

Hello again:

Thank you for the information. All the fuses I pulled out and they look good. Not sure about the big ones that you cannot see through.

What amp are the M22 and M23? Are they one of those big ones? Thanks

Hi:
When I have the ignition switch turned on, should every fuse lite up on both sides when I put the test lite on them? I noticed some do not even though I took out every fuse and examined it for a break. Puzzling.

Not all fuses all have power with the key on but if the fuse has power is should be on both sides of the fuse.
