Error message "reduced transmission performance"

Car was serviced about a month ago at the dealer. Had no problems whatsoever. Just got in the car and the error displayed “reduced transmission performance“: V40 T4 Car does not shift gears, high revs. Switched it off and back on again. Error message was off and gears changed but gear shifted not smoothly and jerky. Revs are also still higher than usual.

Hello,

This sounds like you have a transmission turbine sensor that has gone out or is not reading correctly. Lets run the codes first to see what comes up.

Hi, Volvo dealership just informed me that the transmission seals have to be replaced. Gearbox to be taken out and I am without a car for four to five days.

49,000 miles that is a little premature. Did they say how much it will cost?

They never got back to us on this problem unfortunately, but we can pick it up and find a solution. It sounded link a turbine sensor to me, but we should run a CAN scan to see what codes come up, it is easy to do. You can get a CAN scanner (Controller Area Network) from Amazon for about $36.00.
