I have the vehicle listed above Express 2500, USA with ABS, Rear wheel drive. I could only see the Park brake and rear brake lines going to the wheel hub. I did not find the WSS wire going into the rear wheel. So, I was wondering if the sensors are mounted on axle housing or transmission case or elsewhere.

It says the rear wheel speed sensor is in the rear differential near the axle flange here is the replacement instructions in the diagrams below. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find.

I don't see the sensor near the axle flange. Although the pictures only show the back side of the axle, the sensor is not visible from the front side either.

I can easily trace the cable to the front WSS but not to the rear.

Thanks for the pics, nope it is not there. Did someone change the rear end out for an older model? I found more information on where they are supposed to be. See if you can find evidence for the rear sensor wiring harness. Let me know.

Thanks for the additional information. It appears that there are no rear WSS on my vehicle. It may be that the previous owner has made changes or the ABS configuration in my vehicle is like the older models.

I received this suggestion from a gentleman on reddit "It uses the VSS on the transmission to generate the signal to the TCM which is fed to the PCM and calculated as rear wheel speed." So, I am swapping out the VSS in a few days. I will keep you posted.

Yep, that is how the older systems work. It's just that the manual shows the sensors, I even checked the year before and it was the same thing. Here is the location of the speed sensor but I need to ask if the speedometer working. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what happens.

Thanks for the info on speed sensor location. The speedometer is working fine. Once in a while the gears don't shift, the engine revs but the vehicle does not exceed 40 MPH. The ABS and Park brake lights come on. Once I restart the vehicle, it works fine again.

I don't see any damage on the speed sensor, but I will change both speed sensors and the connector to the speed sensor in a few days. Have ordered parts. I will keep you updated. Thanks for the support so far.

Update: I replaced the output VSS in the transmission and the connector leading to the VSS. Although I have not driven the van over a long distance yet, the problem hasn't reappeared.
