Drivers side rear vent window actuator handle has separated from the glass

Hi,

Based on cost, I would try a good glass adhesive. It should hold. The original part was glued to the glass, so that should be an option. The hardest part will likely be removing the old adhesive.

Before purchasing a new window, try the adhesive. It should do the job for you.

Just as a reference, I attached a pic below showing how the two are connected.

Thanks for the quick response. I am going to reach out to a glass guy who has replaced some windshields for me and see if he can do it. I am thinking he could have access to good adhesive since he has to replace rear view mirrors when reinstalling them.

Those are glued in place with the same glue that is used for rear view mirror pucks. Go on the outside and draw a ring around the existing glue mark as a target. As Joe said the hardest thing is getting the old glue off, usually a good razor blade will work. Then you scrub the metal pad with steel wool and alcohol to clean it. The trick with gluing anything to glass is getting both items very clean. Once clean you line the piece up with the target you drew just to confirm it's correct. Now wipe both pieces with the cleaner they include in the kit and apply the glue. Put the piece in place and hold it for the time the instructions say, that's usually a couple minutes. Then let it set as long as possible before using it to let the glue fully cure.
Watch how the glass guy does it and you will likely see that same process.

Thanks for the reply. I think the only tough part would be marking the outside window as it is a dark tint. I would think marking the inside will get removed as the old glue is scraped off. I'll try to watch the window guy as he does it. It will have the weekend to set up and bond so that is good. Again thanks for sharing the process.

You sort of cheat and look through the glass as you make the marks. On the caravans you can usually do that with the hatch open. You can mark on the inside but as you surmise the marks get removed as you remove the glue and clean the area.

The glass guy came and made the repair on Saturday and basically did what Steve laid out in his response.
