This is another system the insane engineers have hung a computer onto, but the good news is that makes diagnosis somewhat easier. Your best bet with this is to visit the Chrysler dealer. Their scanner will provide more information than the aftermarket scanners used by independent shops, although some of them get pretty close. From working on one of these with a friend who specializes in rebuilding smashed Chrysler vehicles, I can share that if the gate pops open, then immediately closes again, the striker needs to be readjusted, and if the gate goes all the way up, then immediately comes back down, the range switch on the transmission is out-of-adjustment. Other than that, all of the inputs to the computer will be displayed on the scanner. Chrysler usually does a pretty good job of listing each item in a way that is easy to understand. For example, one item might be listed as "brake light switch circuit", not "B03 circuit". The computers can also store diagnostic fault codes. Those are especially helpful when you're looking for the cause of an intermittent problem.
