My friend and I are working on this vehicle. It started as a vibration in the right rear and became louder as time went on. We changed the bearings (it had had another repair bearing put in it before). It was still about the same after. So we did a further inspection and pulled the plate to check the grease. Behold we found metal shavings galor! Not to mention it was low on grease. My friend deduced that the pinion gear was bad so we went and pulled a rear end on a 2000 Jimmy. The question I have is, would the rear end being 2wd be an issue? My friend counted the teeth on the pinion gear and it was the same as on the Bravada. My friend thinks it'll work. What's y'all's opinion? Thanks in advance for any and all input!

I attached the parts numbers for the two vehicles. It appears the same so you should be good. The way to tell if a pinion and ring gear are the same is to count the teeth which you did so I would say, go for it.

Alright, good deal! Thanks a lot! The Bravada being AWD wouldn't effect anything then?

Sorry to pester you, but I have another question as well. would the diameter of the Ring Gear hurt anything if one was an inch larger than the one in it?

That means you have different gear ratios in the two trucks. I attached the different sizes that you can have. How many teeth are on the old ring gear and the new ring gear? Then how many teeth on the pinion because you said those were the same?
