Rear end clicking sound when backing up and turning?

Hi,

If it is coming from the rear, my first suspect is a failing wheel bearing (rear hub assembly). Are you hearing any humming noise when driving?

If you apply the brakes when you hear the noise, does it change? If it doesn't, I would recommend lifting one rear wheel at a time to see if there is play in the bearing.

This is an easy one to replace because the hub comes as a unit. There are 4 bolts that hold it in place.

Yes, sir, the sound changes with the brakes. I found a kit to do the sway bar and struts and wheel hubs for the whole rear end, so I was going to just go ahead and change everything out, so I don't have to worry about it later. Something it started doing today though is when I get in and out of the car it squeaks and rattles on the rear passenger side. Also, the car sways like a boat whenever we're driving and it's especially bad when we hit a bump or something. It feels like it's going to swerve right off the road sometimes. Any thoughts on what that might be?

The noise is interesting. Check to make sure nothing as far as suspension components are damaged or broken specifically at the front. Have a helper get in and out of the car while you try to locate the source of the rattles. Also, the idea that the brakes cause a change in the sound could indicate there is an issue with the brakes or brake hardware, so check that as well.

If you look below, I attached two pics. One is an exploded view of the front suspension and the other is the rear. I highlighted things to check that can cause a sway. Keep in mind, weak or faulty shocks can do that as well.
