I have a leaking seal on the passenger side rear axle of my vehicle. I watched your video on replacing the seal on my particular vehicle. Very helpful!

One question though. Would there be any reason, outside of clear indicators, the the bearing and all that goes with it would need to be replaced because of a leaking seal?

I am currently in Central America and I think my local mechanic is over thinking this one.

Thanks for your time!

If the bearing went without lubrication because of the leak, the bearing and/or bearing race, where the bearing rides will have turned a bluish color, and if this is found the bearing should be replaced and use some 1,000 grit wet sandpaper and clean up the axle shaft where the inside of the bearing rides. Make sure there are no cracks and also make sure the axle has not overheating and turned blue as well. If so replace that axle, too.
