Rear AC/Heat not blowing

This happens when the rear mode actuator goes out, the way the manual wants you to do it is to remove the complete A/C-heater module, but I think you can loosen and gently pull the module to access the mode actuator without undoing the hoses and A/C lines. Here is the recalibration procedure which can be done without a scan tool. I have included the way the manual wants the job to be done as well. If you can't get the actuator removed this is the way the job is done, this guide will help you vacuum down and recharge the system. Please check the diagrams below for the repair job.

You will need to drain the engine coolant as well.

Alternate Method (without Scan Tool)

Note Do not operate any HVAC controls while the HVAC control module is calibrating as this may interrupt the process. If interrupted, improper HVAC performance will result.
Ignition OFF- Vehicle OFF.
Remove the HVAC control module fuse for a minimum of 10s.
Install the HVAC control module fuse.
Start the vehicle.
Wait 40s for the HVAC control module to self-calibrate.

It’s only affecting the rear of the vehicle, not the front. Is this something I should be able to handle with a basic skill set or should I take it to a shop?

Yes, you can do it with basic tools, and this is for the rear of the vehicle. You can take it to a shop, but you can save a lot of money if you do it yourself. The part is about $65.00. I can help walk you through the repair.

Here’s what I bought: it should be here in a few days. I’m pretty handy and I like to save money, so I’m willing to try. I understand I have to remove the interior plastic in the back to expose, do I have to take the seats out or anything extensive like that?

It does look like the seat must be removed to gain access to the rear AC/heater unit. Please let me know how it goes.

The part arrived today; I’m going to work on it tomorrow after work. I believe I’ll need to take the storage compartment above the spare tire out, the third-row passenger seat and then I’ll need to take the plastic off- from there is it basically plug and play? Remove the old and put the new on?

Yes, it should be, you might need to allow some time for the calibration to cycle through hot and cold.

So once I replace the part, I need to pull the fuse with the car off and then replace and turn on? Do you know where the fuse is located?

I’ve got the seat out! Battery is still connected. I assume I don’t have to do anything with the battery since I’m not draining the coolant.

My understanding from here it to remove the plastic interior, expose the actuator, swap, pull the fuse, put the fuse back and then put it all back together?

I finished!!! Getting to the actuator was a bit more challenging than I thought, but all in all, it wasn’t too bad.
